AP Camera Contest and Phantom Planet.

PETA2.com is teaming up with AP to give away photos of Taking Back Sunday, Yellowcard, (International) Noise Conspiracy, Rise Against, New Found Glory, Story of the Year, and Silverstein taken at this summer's Warped Tour. That's not all - PETA2 is also going to throw in the digital camera the photos were taken with. Click here to see how you can win.

Phantom Planet's Alexander Greenwald is back on peta2.com once again. Alex loves chicks, and chicks love a vegetarian. Take a look at peta2.com/ot/o-phantomphoto.html to see the new ad Alex did for peta2, and to watch the b-roll from the photo shoot.

Le Tigre and more.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with demonstrations outside of Forever 21 stores and malls. They all seem to have gone very well. The two demos I attended in Concord and Wilmington, North Carolina, were very well received by the public and the media. Things aren't over yet, though! Click here and take action for the hundreds of millions of rabbits slaughtered each year for their fur and their flesh.

In an interview with peta2.com which will be on the Site in December, Jo of Le Tigre had this to say: "Since some of my closest friends have been bunnies, wearing their fur- or any fur- is something I would never do." While we're on the subject, have you all seen the video for Le Tigre's "TKO"? If you haven't, head over to letigreworld.com and watch it now.

Looking for some new band to support? Well, you should definitely check out these guys! Not only do they work their butts off trying to get their music out into the world, but they use every free second not spent on the band fighting for the animals (and they often overlap the two!). Recently these guys used their band power to send our new "Question Authority" e-card out into the world.

The Shins, Forever 21 Butchers Bunnies.

James Mercer of The Shins recently sat down for an interview with peta2.com. James' father grew up on a cattle ranch, and felt very little empathy for animals. James says that his family's canine companion, Misty, changed that. James certainly has compassion for animals, and for that reason he would never purchase any fur or fur-trim products. Click here to see PETA2's video interview with James for more.

Speaking of the cruel fur industry, have you heard that Forever 21 tortures animals? Hundreds of millions of rabbits are killed each year for their fur and their flesh. These animals are confined to tiny metal cages for their entire lives, given no shelter from all weather extremes, and never allowed to do what rabbits in nature do such as run, dig, or play. When they are slaughtered, these rabbits have their necks snapped, their skulls bashed in, and are strung up by their frail legs before being decapitated. Take a look at peta2.com/tc/t-forever21.html for details on how you can help. The day after Thanksgiving, this coming Friday, is the biggest shopping day of the year, so PETA is asking for activists to take one hour out of the day to speak up for animals. It would be fantastic to see demonstrations outside of every single Forever 21. Even if you can't organize a demo, there are plenty of other ways for you to pitch in.

Please contact Forever 21, explaining that you’ll be boycotting the chain—and telling others to do the same—until it stops supporting cruelty to animals:

Further Seems Forever.

Further Seems Forever recorded a new public service announcement for peta2.com. In the PSA, guitarist Derick Cordoba encourages listeners to show some compassion by eating vegetarian foods and choosing products that are not tested on animals. Click here to hear for yourself.

I know we promised a fur mission would be up earlier this week, but we had to delay things just a tad. The delay is a good one though—the store who we originally intended to have all of you Street Teamers take action against has promised not to sell fur, so we've had to make some last minute changes. Next Friday, November 26, is Fur-Free Friday, so hopefully you will all leave some space open on your calendar for the mission we've got planned ... it's an exciting one!

Remember to comment away kids. We choose one person from each weeks blog contests and send them a special prize.

Kill Radio.

Coming up soon on the Site is an interview with Kill Radio, and maybe even a contest. Jasten King who plays guitar for the band is an avid vegan. Here's a little teaser from the upcoming interview:

"I think the CEO [of KFC] and everyone treating the animals like that knows what they’re doing is wrong. If they say they don’t then they're lying. The second we offer to put the footage in one of their commercials or restaurants to see how it helps their business, they’d obviously refuse."

The band's video "Do You Know" will be premiering today on FUSE on the show Oven Fresh. On the show, views have to vote to "keep it or lost it". Show some love for Kill Radio by going to fuse.tv and voting for this awesome new video.

Palmer, Underoath News, and the New Charlize Ad!

There's an all new Star Street Teamer on peta2. Rebecca Palmer started trying to work her way into vegetarianism at age 11. Going veg help Bekka lose 80 lbs in just 3 years. Bekka is most active in the IamsCruelty.com campaign, and she wants all of you to know to "always take the chance to speak up for animals, where ever that may be. I could go on and on about Rebecca, or you could just click here and hear it all straight from her.

Oh how we love AltPress.com. Check this out:

THEY’RE ONLY CHASING FRISBEES
Underoath, in-between playing sold-out shows with Coheed And Cambria and just being all-around stand-up dudes, have taken a stand against dog food company Iams, who have been accused of animal cruelty. The band sent a letter to Iams voicing their concerns; you can check it out here.

Charlize Theron joins a long list of glamorous celebrities to speak out against the cruelty involved with the fur industry. Charlize is a great friends to animals - besides the new anti-fur ad she posed for as a favor to PETA, the Oscar winner wrote to every mall in the country that has a pet store and asked them to replace the stores with animal adoption centers. Take a look at peta2.com/ot/o-charlize.asp to see why Charlize would never wear her dog, or any other animal for that matter.

The Woodie Awards!

mtvU's first annual "Woodie Awards" were recently awarded to artists who have made an impact on the college music scene. Many of the nominees and winners are no strangers to peta2.com, including Jet, Franz Ferdinand, N.E.R.D., Dave Matthews Band, Taking Back Sunday, The Roots, Jack Johnson, and Sugarcult.

Click here to see who won "Woodie of the Year" and the slew of other cleverly-named awards, and who just didn't make the cut.

Speaking of bands we love, Yellowcard are just so awesome, don't you agree? With the band releasing a new DVD, "Beyond Ocean Avenue: Live at the Electric Factory," peta2.com just had to get an interview with the guys in Yellowcard. Bassist Pete Mosely hooked up with peta2 on the Warped Tour to sign autographs, and now there's an all new interview with Pete on the Site. Take a look at peta2.com/ot/o-yellowcard.asp to see what Pete had to say about going vegetarian. Pass the link on to everyone who likes Yellowcard while you're at it. Here at PETA2, we're firm believers in sharing the love.

Winners and Underoath.

The winners of the "Colonel of Cruelty" Halloween contest are:
Alexa McSherry
Ally Tepe
Tara Berkoski

Each of these Street Teamers will receive KentuckyFriedCruelty.com campaign T-shirts, bumper stickers, and other goodies. Additionally, Street Teamer Alicia Pharo will receive a special prize for her creative idea of dressing up like a cat and distributing information about spaying and neutering. Congrats to all!

Underoath recently joined peta2.com and concerned friends of animals across the world in boycotting Iams. Iams confines dogs and cats to metal cages in laboratories for cruel, unnecessary experiments. Click here to read the band's letter to Iams President Jeffrey P. Ansell, and be sure to check out IamsCruelty.com for more information on how you can help.

A friendly reminder, just in case you don't check your e-mail:
The Yu-Gi-Oh! "Cruelty to Animals Is No Game" poster giveaway and original sketch contest is almost over. Head over to peta2.com/ot/o-YugiCard.asp to order your free poster. After ordered one for yourself, help us get these posters up on the walls of elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. We’ll reward you with 300 Street Team points for providing us with a teacher’s contact information. Send an e-mail message by Friday, November 19 with "Yu-Gi-Oh! Poster" in the subject line to StreetTeam@peta.org with the teacher’s full name as well the school’s name, mailing address, and telephone number.

Fur Is Dead.
rose for the dead.jpg

All of you Street Teamers from Belgium - take a look at this article to see how these sexy bunnies, including Street Teamer Sabrina Verswijver, got fur banned from Morgan (de toi) for good. We have a really important feature coming up on peta2.com next Monday that deals with fur. I can't give away all the secrets, but just be sure to keep your schedule clear on Fur Free Friday, November 26!

Speaking of fur, check out the all new ShedYourSkin.com for information on the cruelty involved with the skins trade.

Be sure to take a look at the college blog if you haven't already. My fellow PETA staffers, Drew Wilson and Loring Harkness put plenty of time and effort into their blog entries, so give them some attention as well!

Sugarcult, New Goods, and Photos.

While Sugarcult was out on tour, they came across a horrifying sight at a gas station - a truck full of turkeys headed to slaughter. Seeing all of those turkeys packed into that truck gave the boys a small glimpse into the cruelty involved in turning a living, breathing animal into a holiday dish. Check out PETA2's interview with Sugarcult's guitarist Marko 72 here to hear what he had to say about turkeys as well as animals raised for fur. Who would want to eat a poor, defenseless turkey when PETA2 is giving away 10 free Tofurkys?

We've updated the "Street Team Goods" with two T-shirts. Check out the new "Love Animals, Don't Eat Them" and "I Heart PETA" designs.

Here are a few more Halloween photos for all of you to enjoy.
